How to link a debit card

Add a debit card to your Coinme account

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Coinme supports debit cards for buying and selling cryptocurrency directly from your account. When adding a card, we have you input your card information along with the billing information of the card.

Cards currently accepted:

  • Debit Mastercard only for Buy transactions

  • Debit Visa for Buy and Sell transactions

  • Prepaid cards issued by traditional banks

Cards currently not accepted:

  • Credit cards

  • Gift cards

  • Cards from digital-only banks such as Varo, Current, PayPal, and Venmo

  • Debit cards linked to business accounts

Pro Tip: The best practice is to use a debit card from a Bank or Credit Union that is FDIC-approved

Step-by-step: How to add your debit card

1. To add your debit card, start by selecting the Transact button.

2. Select the Buy option from the list of possible transactions.

3. Select the cryptocurrency you wish to purchase.

4. On the Payment Method screen select Link Another Card.

5. Provide the requested details: Card Number, Expiration Date, & CVC, then select Next. The next button will only be selectable if the values provided have been confirmed as valid information.

6. You must then provide your registered billing address for the debit card that was entered in step 5. The next button will only be selectable if the values provided have been confirmed as valid information.

7. Once you complete filling out the information you will receive confirmation that your card has been successfully added. Select continue and the card will be ready to transact.

Common reasons why your card may not be accepted

  • Your card may not be a supported card type

  • Your card might have expired and needs to be updated

  • The debit card must be in your name only, as cards in other names cannot be accepted

  • Coinme cannot accept debit cards linked to business accounts

  • Your bank may be blocking or declining transactions with Coinme

  • You've reached your daily or monthly limit

  • You might be in an area where Coinme services aren't supported (e.g., New York and Vermont)
