Coinme lets you buy cryptocurrency with cash at physical locations across the United States, without bank account or debit card requirements. Depending on the location, you'll either interact with a Coinstar kiosk machine or pay a cashier at a participating retail store using the Coinme app.
Types of cash purchase locations
Coinstar kiosks
At Coinstar locations, you interact directly with the kiosk machine. You start the transaction in the Coinme app, feed cash into the Coinstar machine, and the crypto is deposited to your wallet after processing.
Coinme Cash locations (Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and more)
At Coinme Cash locations, you generate a barcode in the Coinme app and present it to the cashier. You pay with cash, and the crypto is deposited to your wallet after the retailer confirms payment.

Why buy with cash instead of online?
You prefer using cash. Not everyone wants to link a bank account or debit card to a crypto platform.
Bank restrictions. Some banks block debit card transactions to crypto platforms. Cash purchases bypass this entirely.
Privacy preference. While Coinme requires identity verification as required by law, a cash transaction doesn't involve your bank.
Simplicity. For many people, paying with cash at a familiar store feels more straightforward than navigating online payment methods.
What are the fees?
Fees vary by location type. Coinstar kiosks charge a percentage-based exchange fee. Coinme Cash locations charge a flat service fee plus a percentage-based exchange fee.

Things to keep in mind
Before you go:
Bring your phone. You need the Coinme app to start every transaction.
Verify your account first. Identity verification is required before you can transact.
Cash only. These locations do not accept debit cards, credit cards, or checks.
Transaction limits apply. Daily and monthly limits are in place, check the app for your current limits.
Processing takes time. Expect 9β15 minutes for your crypto to appear, sometimes up to an hour.
