Someone has scammed me. What should I do?

Steps to take if you feel you have been scammed

If you believe you've been the victim of a cryptocurrency scam, act quickly. While Coinme cannot reverse blockchain transactions, there are immediate steps you can take to protect yourself and report the incident.

Cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible. Once crypto is sent to a blockchain address, it cannot be recalled or stopped. Acting fast on the steps below is important.

Step 1: Stop all contact with the scammer

Cut off communication immediately. Hang up the phone, stop replying to emails or messages, and block the scammer across any channel they used to contact you.

Step 2: Reset your Coinme password

If you shared your Coinme login credentials or suspect your account was accessed, reset your password right away.

Step 3: Report the scam

Contact Coinme

Reach out to our support team via the chat icon in the bottom right corner of this page. For potential fraud or scam reports specifically, you can also leave a voicemail on our toll-free reporting line: 1-888-459-9780 — include your name, Coinme account contact information, and a brief description of what happened.

The reporting line above is for fraud and scam cases only. For all other support needs, please use the chat icon.

Report to law enforcement

Contact your local law enforcement using their non-emergency line. You can also file a report online at ic3.gov — the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center. Cryptocurrency scams often cross jurisdictions, and reporting helps authorities investigate.

Step 4: Review common scam types

Understanding the type of scam you encountered can help you know what additional steps to take.
