Things Coinme Will Never Ask or Tell a Customer to Do

We are committed to providing our customers with a safe and secure experience when using our services. As such, there are certain things that we will never ask or tell our customers to do. This article will cover those things in detail to ensure that our customers are aware and can protect themselves from potential scams or fraud.

Never Share Your Personal Information

At Coinme, we will never ask you to share certain personal information, such as:

  • your password

  • the billing address associated with any of your debit or credit cards

  • your debit or credit card number, expiration date or CSC

    • We may ask for the last four digits or for you to verify the issuing financial institution

If you receive a request for this information, do not respond and report it to our customer support team immediately.

Never Send Money to Someone Claiming to be from Coinme

We will never ask you to send money to us or anyone claiming to be from Coinme. If you receive a request to send money, do not respond and report it to our customer support team immediately.

We will also never ask you to buy a voucher or cryptocurrency outside of an in-application promotion

Never Click on Suspicious Links

We will never send you a link asking you to log in to your account or provide personal information. If you receive a suspicious link, do not click on it and report it to our customer support team immediately.

Never Give Remote Access to Your Computer

We will never ask for remote access to your computer. If someone claiming to be from Coinme asks for remote access, do not provide it and report it to our customer support team immediately.

We will never ask you to install any type of remote assistance or access software for any computer or other device

Never Share Your Recovery Phrase

We will never ask for your recovery phrase. Your recovery phrase is used to access your cryptocurrency and should only be kept private. If someone asks for your recovery phrase, do not share it and report it to our customer support team immediately.

In addition, Coinme will never Communicate in the following ways:

  • Contact you via any 3rd party chat program (Telegram, Whatsapp, Snapchat, etc.)

  • Private message you via social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) unless attempting to address your post or request for help

  • Ask you to send personally identifiable information to any other email address besides: [email protected]

  • Ask you to send photos to any other email address besides: [email protected].

  • Hire you for a remote position that involves setting up an account or accounts, and purchasing vouchers or cryptocurrency to send somewhere else

NOTE: You must register your own account ONLY via the Coinme app or website, it is against our Terms of Service to register an account for anyone other than yourself (i.e. joint or 3rd party accounts are prohibited)

Coinme will never take the following actions:

  • Send you cash money to buy a voucher or cryptocurrency

  • Send you a check to buy a voucher or cryptocurrency

  • Wire you money to buy a voucher or cryptocurrency (via Western Union, Cashapp, Zelle, etc.)

  • Wire money to your bank account to buy a voucher or cryptocurrency

For your protection, please be aware of the following:

  • If someone is sending you a check unrelated to a Coinme reimbursement, inform your bank immediately, and DO NOT cash the check into your bank account, as they may bounce or be voided

  • If someone is asking you to spend your own money to purchase vouchers or cryptocurrency on behalf of another individual or organization, DO NOT make the purchase

  • If you happen to have provided your Coinme account login information (username and/or password), immediately change the password as soon as possible and/or contact Coinme support via chat (or other means) and indicate that you believe you are a victim of a possible account take over

If you are currently involved in any of the situations noted above, please note the following:

  • If you feel unsafe because an individual or group is harassing or threatening you, please contact your local authorities or dial 911 immediately

  • Stop all contact with the individual or group immediately
