How to update the mobile phone number associated with your Coinme account

You can only update your phone number directly from the Coinme Mobile App. It's not available through the web app. The process includes identity verification steps to keep your account secure.

Can't log in to your account? Start by resetting your password. If you're still unable to log in after resetting your password, contact our Customer Support.


Step-by-step guide

Step 1: Open the account menu

  • Open the Coinme app

  • From your main balance screen, tap the profile icon (top-right)

Step 2: Go to account information

  • On the Account screen, tap Account information

Step 3: Start the phone number update

  • Under Contact info, find Mobile phone number

  • Tap Edit next to your current phone number

Step 4: Verify your identity via email

  • Enter the 6-digit code sent to your account email address

Note: The email verification code is valid for 30 minutes. If you don't see the email in your inbox, tap Resend code via email.

Step 5: Enter your new phone number

  • Type your new mobile number

  • Tap Continue

Reminder: Your mobile phone number must be the one you use for purchases associated with your Coinme account.

Step 6: Verify your new phone number by SMS

  • Enter the 6-digit code sent via SMS to your new number

Time-sensitive: The SMS verification code is valid for 2 minutes. If the code doesn't arrive, tap Resend code via SMS.

Step 7: Done!

  • When complete, you'll see Phone number updated!

  • Tap I understand to close the confirmation

Frequently asked questions

I created my Coinme account using a different phone number than the one I used at the Coinstar kiosk. What do I do?

If you entered your own correct phone number at the kiosk but used a different number when creating your Coinme account, you may be able to resolve this by updating your Coinme account phone number to match the one on the voucher. Please note that phone number updates are only allowed once every 90 days.

My MFA was set up with an old phone number I no longer have access to. How do I update it?

If you've lost access to the phone number linked to your account's multi-factor authentication (MFA), please contact our customer support team directly. Our team can help verify your identity and assist you with regaining access to your account.

I'm not receiving the text message with my verification code. What do I do?

If you're not receiving the SMS verification code, here are a few things to check:

  • Third-party messaging apps: If you're using a service like Google Voice or TextNow, you may not be able to receive the verification texts required by Coinme. Unfortunately, these services are not supported β€” you will need a number from a standard cellular carrier.
